TIFFIN FIRE DEPARTMENT ACHIEVES UPGRADED RATING IN NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION RATING: ISO CLASS 4/4Y

Tiffin Fire Dept
Improved Fire Insurance Rating May Potentially Lower Insurance Rates for Homes and Businesses within the
City limits of Tiffin, Clear Creek Township, and Union Townships.

The Tiffin Fire Department is pleased to announce that we just received notification from ISO (Insurance Services Office) that the Fire Department's public protection classification rating has been upgraded from a Class 5/5Y to a Class 4/4Y, effective August 1, 2024.

ISO classifies Fire Department's across the nation on their ability to protect the community they serve. This process uses nationally accepted models and standards in their rating. Classes range from 1 to 10; with 1 being the best.

Tiffin joins 7,071 other Fire Departments across the nation that have this rating.

The Tiffin Fire Department continue to promote and implement improvements to our day-to-day operations, enhancing the areas of community risk reduction, training, personnel deployment, personnel and equipment certifications, implementation of standard operating guidelines and policies, and record management. These improvements will continue to develop and factor into maintaining or upgrading our rating in the future.

By improving our public protection classification this could have a direct effect on fire insurance rates paid by residents and commercial business owners. This achievement could only have been done with the support from our Community, the City Council, Water Department, and hard work of all Fire Department employees.

You may present this to your insurance provider for a possible reduction in rates.
