TIFFIN FEST
The 2010 TiffinFest roared off to a great start on Friday, July 9, with its parade and then new fest entries this year, the demo-derby / monster trucks, Peppy’s Ice Cream, Keaton’s face painting, Whirlybird Helicopter rides, DJ ProSound, and late evening fireworks by Fully Loaded Aerial Display, Amana. Estimated attendance was at 1,000. Saturday started early with Canopy & Fidelitas Lodges 5K Run/1K Walk and a pancake breakfast at Grace Methodist Church. At nine AM the park opened with carnival rides/games, Miller’s Petting Zoo, car show, boys’ baseball tournament, open market vendors, helicopter rides, face painting, Iowa National Guard climbing wall, Farmer’s Market, food vendors (TC Bones main food sponsor), the University of Iowa Community Credit Union’s kids’ games, Cedar Rapids Spirits dance teams, Sheltered Reality, and in the evening, bands, Crazy Delicious and Black Diamond. The automobile raffle draw for Carousel 2’s Nissan was at 10 pm. Winner of the 2009 Nissan is Michele Hogue, Oxford.
Little Miss & Mr TiffinFest crowned and rode in parade: Samantha Scheetz, 8 yrs old, daughter of Mick and Amber Scheetz, Tiffin and Jack James Kestel, 3 yrs old, son of Jason and Heidi Kestel, Tiffin.
TiffinFest Committee this year was: Justin Gourley, Cedar Rapids, Julie Vice, Darla Bartels, Stacie DeVore, Sandy Ball, Chaylee Kuntz, Peggy Upton, Brian Detert, Trent Rogers, Heather Werth, Arlin Wurth, and Mayor Royce Phillips, all from Tiffin. Jim Bartels was the city council representative. Anyone interested in joining next year’s committee, please call one of the above members.
